In order to go farther than you ever thought possible you must both think and act at levels 10X beyond the norm.Your thoughts and actions are the reason you are where you are right now.Set targets that are 10X the goals you would ever dream of.Operating at activity levels far beyond the normal is 10X action and execution. The 10X Rule is based on understanding the level of effort and the level of thinking required to succeed. The biggest mistake most people make in life is not setting goals high enough. This summary also includes key lessons and important passages from the book. My notes are informal and often contain quotes from the book as well as my own thoughts. This is my book summary of The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone. The biggest mistake most people make in life is not setting goals high enough. Taking massive action is the only way to fulfill your true potential. The 10X Rule says that 1) you should set targets for yourself that are 10X greater than what you believe you can achieve and 2) you should take actions that are 10X greater than what you believe are necessary to achieve your goals. Both have been slaves, one bound by chains and the other guilt and family. Both main characters have been through hell and back. Warnings first: There is a lot of trauma in this book. It’s so striking and beautifully done, how could it not? I love the bolder colors and the bright elegant title scrolling across the cover. Grace Draven is no stranger to writing epic tales of fantasy, so I had little doubt that this one would be outstanding as well.īack when I was scrolling through the fantasy category on NetGalley, I couldn’t help but have the cover for Phoenix Unbound catch my attention. Phoenix Unbound is the first book in Grace Draven’s new series, the Fallen Empire. I received a copy of Phoenix Unbound through NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. Warnings: Rape, slavery, torture, burning at the stake In 2005, Galvin along with Barry Lopez, Peter Matthiessen, and Terry Tempest Williams was hailed in Mark Tredinnick's The Land's Wild Music (Trinity University Press, 2005) in which Tredinnick analyzed how the landscape nourished and developed Galvin's writing.įor more than 30 years, Galvin has been crafting poems that convey a profound sense of place, capturing both the harshness and beauty of the rural American West. He is also the author of the critically acclaimed prose book The Meadow (Holt, 1992) and a novel, Fencing the Sky (Holt, 1999). Poetry, Poems, Bios & More - James Galvin He has published six collections of poetry, most recently As Is (Copper Canyon Press, 2009), "X: Poems," and Resurrection Update, Collected Poems, 1975-1997 (Copper Canyon Press, 1997) which was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Award, the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize, and the Poet’s Prize. James Galvin (born 1951 in Chicago) is an American poet. It’s 1963 and Jez lives with her twin brother Jay, her mama, and her uncle Doc Buzzard. When Jezebel’s grandmother died, she couldn’t have imagined how it would upend her life. A smartly plotted dip into the Gullah-Geechee culture of early 60s rural South Carolina, it manages to weave family, history, and spooky stuff together like a braid. Root Magic by Eden Royce, isn’t really like anything else out there. The happy ending to this story is, as you might imagine, that I’ve found such a book. Still, you’d think that someone would be able to tap into that same link between history and chills that Ms. I manage to find it to varying degrees of success. For me, it was like a really good episode of The Bloodhound Gang, and I suppose there’s a part of me that’s always looking for that level of spookiness in the children’s books I read. What I particularly loved about it was how atmospheric it was. Today, kids would not be particularly shocked to encounter a book that combined the long arm of slavery to the present day alongside a ghost story/treasure ala Goonies, but in the 1980s it was a standalone in the field. I don’t think I really realized at the time what a novel thing it was. When I was a kid, one of my favorite novels was Virginia Hamilton’s The House of Dies Drear. Walden Pond Press (an imprint of Harper Collins) The book also explores such complex themes as morality and redemption. White Fang examines the violent world of wild animals and the equally violent world of supposedly civilized humans. Much of the novel is written from the viewpoint of the animals, allowing London to explore how animals view their world and how they view humans. The book is characteristic of London's precise prose style and his innovative use of voice and perspective. White Fang is a companion novel (and a thematic mirror) to Jack London's best-known work, The Call of the Wild, which concerns a kidnapped civilized dog turning into a wild wolf. White Fang is the story of a wild dog's journey toward becoming civilized in the Canadian territory of Yukon during the Klondike gold rush at the end of the nineteenth century. Yes, it's about how the Holy Spirit is God, has the nature/substance of God. Yes, it's about how the Spirit is necessary for the Christian life. But even this description doesn't truly describe what this one is about. Which does relate to regeneration, being born again, being justified, being sanctified, being saved, whatever you want to call the all-encompassing act that brings us into a forever-relationship with God. Some of you may be relieved to learn that! What is this one about? Well, I think this book is truly about the person and work of the Holy Spirit. But that really wasn't what this book was about, not really. I expected this to be a book either about election or predestination OR a book about God's sovereignty, a book highlighting how God chooses, calls, draws, elects, predestines, whatever you want to call it. I think my expectations were a bit off which influenced my reading of it. Tozer book that I've hesitated to say I love.
